Comprehensive services offered in English and Spanish at the CHRIS Counseling Center include:

CHRIS Counseling Center provides a range of specialized therapeutic services for children and families in the greater Atlanta area. These services include diagnostic, psychiatric, training and counseling services to youth with behavioral and substance abuse issues. Many services can be provided in a child’s home, school or other community locations, six days a week throughout the day and evening. Services are provided in a manner to minimize disruption of a child’s school day as well.

Directions:

The CHRIS Counseling Center is located in the CHRIS Kids offices, 3109 Clairmont Road, Suite A. We are located on Clairmont Road, between I-85 and Buford Hwy. Exit I-85 at the Clairmont Road exit. Turn north heading towards Buford Highway. At the 4th traffic liight (Look for the Extended Stay America Hotel at the stop light), turn right into the Century North office park. We are located in the next to the last building in this complex. Look for the CHRIS Kids name on the sign at the corner of the 3109 building. The CHRIS Counseling Center is on the front side.

CHRIS Kids is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children and is a member of the Child Welfare League of America.

CHRIS Kids services are rendered in accordance with the standards of good practice that are outlined in the Georgia Department of Human Resources Service Guidelines and the Service Definitions of the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases (MHDDAD) as well as the standards promulgated by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.

Diagnostic Assessment

Assessment services are provided in the home or at the CHRIS Counseling Center. The assessment process helps evaluate a child’s strengths, supports, needs, problems and helps identify and diagnose behavioral, emotional and substance problems. The assessment is used to help shape the services and treatment a child receives from CHRIS Counseling Center..

Individual Counseling

Provided for children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems by therapists licensed by the state of Georgia.

Group Counseling

Curriculum based specialized group counseling for youth and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems. The number of sessions and structure of the group is topic-specific. Examples of counseling groups offered are Substance Abuse Cessation, Anger Management, Dual Diagnoses, Sexual Reactivity and Boundaries. Provided by licensed/certified counselors.

Group Training

Curriculum based specialized training groups. The number of sessions and structure of the group is topic-specific. Examples of training groups include ADHD Symptom Management, Communication Skills, Healthy Sexuality, Drug Use Prevention and Employment Readiness.

Family Counseling

Provided by licensed counselors for the families of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems. May be provided with or without youth.

Family Training Groups

Curriculum based specialized family training for the biological, foster and adoptive families of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems.

Nursing Assessments and Health Services

Health/Addiction assessment and monitoring services provided by nurses licensed by the State of Georgia. Services also include Nutritional assessment and patient education.

Psychiatric Assessment and Medication Management

Provided by a Board certified psychiatrist with experience in child and adolescent mental health/substance abuse.

Community Support - Individual (CSI)

Community-based support and training for youth requiring additional services in order to successfully transition back into the community or avoid out-of-home placement.

Intensive Family Intervention (IFI)

Community-based intensive intervention services for the rehabilitation and intervention of children, adolescents and their families who have or are suspected of having a DSM-IV diagnosis. Services are provided through a team approach that includes intensive therapeutic services for individuals and their families and linking consumers to community based agencies. The team comprises a licensed clinical therapist and 2/3 additional mental health/substance abuse professionals. Up to 90 days of intensive services with 3-5 visits per week. Service is available 24/7 for consumers and their families experiencing crises.
