2013 Southeast Stonewall Festival

The Southeast Stonewall Music Festival brings together LGBT musicians, ensembles, and their allies.

Anchored around a large choral orchestral work performed by musicians gathered specifically for this event, it provides participants with the chance to meet each other and perform a work they might not otherwise have the opportunity to. The showcase concert program for the inaugural season is Carmina Burana and the overture to Verdi's La Forza del Destino.

The annual festival also includes concerts by large groups as well as individual and chamber music recitals that expose LGBT musicians to a wider audience to further their professional development and careers.

In addition to celebrating the arts in the LGBT community, the festival is also a fundraiser for CHRIS Kids and LGBT arts organizations!

Dodgeball Tournament

16 teams can register. A team can consist of 6-10 players. $250 per team.
To register a team, please email support@forthekid.org. You only need the registration fee and a team name at this time. You may register the official player roster by May 10.

Round Robin Dodgeball Tournament. Winners get the 1st Annual For The Kid in All of Us Dodgeball Tournament trophy and bragging rights for the year.

All players get a T-shirt. Afterparty at Harbour in Decatur at 4 p.m.

AEN Gives Back – A Non-Profit Showcase

The Atlanta Executive Network is proud to present AEN Gives Back – A Non-Profit Showcase, on May 16, 2013 at 6:30 PM. This event will be held at The Phillip Rush Center, located at 1530 DeKalb Avenue, Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30307. Come network with professionals and mingle with Non Profit organizations to learn more about what they do for the community and how you can help.

Project 13: Day of Change

This highly anticipated multicultural event will unite Atlanta’s most affluent and influential in a “life changing” way. “13″ has long borne a negative connotation, but, demonstrating how it’s possible to transform what would otherwise be considered negative into a positive, we have the power – and collectively even more so – to do “13″ differently. As firm believers in partying with a purpose, we have chosen to ignite a philanthropic movement by designing an event geared toward supporting not one, but 13 of Atlanta’s nonprofit organizations that pour their resources into impacting and changing the lives of those that face the challenges of being in life’s transition.

To fuel the “13-in-13″ movement, this extraordinary event will feature 13 exclusive silent auction items (one item paired with and in support of each of the 13 benefiting nonprofits). The collective energy of good intentions and good deeds can lead to tremendous power… power to impact and change lives. And we intend, hopefully along with your support, to gather our resources and harness the resulting power, channeling it directly those 13 worthy nonprofit organizations to make a real difference in 2013. The proceeds generated from the silent auction will benefit each respective organization.

More about Trauma-Informed Foster Care Adoption Model (TIFCAM)
CHRIS Kids is opening the state's first Trauma-Informed Foster Care Adoption Home. This home and innovative adoption model allows children, ages 9+ and in foster care, to live together, share experiences and support each other through the adoption process. It provides these children an opportunity to have a voice in the process and, in essence, the kids get to select their future family (where, in a traditional adoption model, the potential family selects the kids). This home creates a safe environment where both the family and the kids get to know each other. The goal is to eliminate "failed adoptions" that only cause more trauma to children. This home is in the community (unmarked) in a regular neighborhood like any other. The kids go to public schools and have chores, homework and operate like a "normal" home - just like yours and mine. Our goal at CHRIS Kids is to make kids feel "normal" and not to make the facilities feel like institutions or hospitals. As we get the home prepared, we need help making it feel safe, warm and inviting.

Marietta Rainbow Festival

Saturday at the Marietta Rainbow Festival is a family friendly day, with activities for adults after 8 p.m. that night. Join us at the Marietta Rainbow Festival for special performances, live music and bands, DJ's, drag shows featuring Queens and Kings, fashion shows, and several public speakers on the indoor stages. There will be sponsors, food, and more! This year Marietta Pride added a Pride Flea Market and first ever Pride Guide. There will be an all day party inside LeBUZZ, followed by the Divas Cabaret  Show - starring Destiny Brooks - the Mistress of Ceremonies. Heather Daniels, an Atlanta legend and drag icon is the Grand Marshall for 2012. The Dance Party starts right after the show and will last until 3am. There is a Family Fun Zone, too!

Après Diem presents an annual series, "Après Diem Feeds the Soul," to support the important work being done by twelve diverse non-profit organizations in the community that protect, nurture and "feed the souls" of disadvantaged members of our community. The owner of Après Diem, Andy Alibaksh, feels that he has been extremely fortunate in the success of his Diem Restaurant Group and would like to share his good fortune with the community that has supported and embraced him. 20% of the total receipts go directly to CHRIS Kids!

Black History Event - Roots: Unearthing A Nation

CHRIS Kids cordially invites you to attend the 2012 Black History Program that will occur on Sunday, February 26th at 5:00pm – 7:00pm. This annual event occurs at Mount Gerizim Church that is located in the historic East Atlanta Terry Mills Community.  There is a panel discussion; the panelist will be asked a myriad of questions regarding their experiences living in America. Join us as we discuss the Roots of African Americans and the Unearthing of a Nation.

For the Kid in All of Us proudly presents the 9th Annual Toy Party & Silent Auction, Atlanta's premier holiday cocktail party and toy drive to benefit more than two dozen charities. CHRIS Kids has been selected as one of this year's beneficiaries. Admittance is one unwrapped new toy or gift card. Come join the fun, enjoy complimentary food & beverage (drink tickets w/ admission), and share in the giving! Must be 21 or older, with valid ID to enter. Credit card required for Silent Auction.

Hope for the Holidays

Kim Chesney and Debi Lamb present the 1st Annual Hope for the Holidays festival event. This fun and unique three-day festival includes a cocktail kickoff reception and then two days of showcasing more than 100 of Georgia’s best local artists. This event provides an opportunity to examine multiple art mediums and all proceeds benefit five children’s charities (Atlanta Mission, Children’s Restoration Network, CHRIS Kids, Jerusalem House and Sheltering Arms).  The goal is to bridge the local art world and nonprofit community while raising funds for children living in poverty, on the streets or with no family in which to celebrate the Holiday Season. Incredibly, 100% of funds raised go directly to the five selected charities. Additionally, an original piece of art is to be raffled all three days and 20% of these sales go directly to the charity of the attendee’s choice. (Attendees select their charity at by a sign in sheet at the front of the gallery).
