As an individual volunteer, orientation is an important part of the volunteer process at CHRIS Kids. Our goal is to ensure you understand specifically what your role and expectations are as an individual or volunteer. Orientation is scheduled AFTER your project date, time, activity and goals are reviewed and confirmed. Once these details are final, you and or your group are ready for Orientation! The Orientation process takes approximately an hour and reviews our history, mission, ethics, program guidelines and does an overview of trauma informed care. Orientation can be done at your business, in a group or individually at our main office.
Help with general office work at the Main Office such as: Creating Flyers, Filing, Making Phone Calls, Stuffing Envelopes, etc…
Life Skills & Vocational Instruction
Coach participants in general life skills: coping with adversity, cooking, finances, shopping, etc… Assist youth with basic employment attainment/retention skills: attire, interviewing, resume writing, soft-skills, work-place conflict, etc.
Prepare your best Cuisine or BBQ (family style) for a residential home or at the apartment community. Play games, socialize and spend time with the youth.
Reinforce positive behaviors with participants via your personal “story” and how you successfully overcame these challenges.
CK has three main events each year (Premiere Party, CHRIStal Ball, and Cirque du Soleil). Volunteers are needed for to plan, execute, fundraise, setup, cleanup, assist with event registration and more.
Some of our youth may need help with a particular subject or need assistance studying for their GED. You can work with a child in our residential homes or older youth in our apartment community.
Leadership Committees & Board of Directors
CK seeks passionate and influential community members to serve on committees to assist with marketing, development, fundraising, events, governance, human resources, technology and other areas.
Recreational Activities & Hobbies
Take a child to the movies, go to a basketball game, share your favorite hobby. There are hundreds of free or low-cost activities in Atlanta. Many of our youth have never been bowling, experienced the zoo or gone fishing.
